भारत में, हालाँकि कोविड-19 के बाद, स्वच्छता के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ी है, लेकिन व्यवहारिक अपनाने और बुनियादी सुविधाओं की कमी, अब भी, एक बड़ी चुनौती है।

- नियमित साबुन से हाथ धोने से डायरिया के मामलों में 47% तक कमी लाई जा सकती है (WHO, 2024)
- इससे श्वसन संक्रमणों में 23% कमी देखी गई है।
- स्कूलों और आंगनवाड़ियों में हाथ धोने की पहल से 20–30% तक अनुपस्थिति कम होती है (World Bank, 2023)
यह स्पष्ट करता है कि प्रारंभिक बाल्यावस्था में स्वच्छता ढाँचे में निवेश न केवल स्वास्थ्य में सुधार लाता है बल्कि यह मानव विकास में निवेश है।

Despite being one of the most effective and low-cost public health interventions, handwashing with soap and water remains a neglected habit in many parts of India, especially among young children. As we celebrate Global Handwashing Day 2025, the call for action is clear: to make safe handwashing with soap and water a daily, lifelong habit, beginning from the earliest years of a child’s life.
